What we are, and what we're not

Islander Solar LLC is a solar consulting and technical sales company. We help property owners figure out whether solar, batteries or a Tesla Supercharger site make sense, we design and specify systems, we model the economics with real utility data, and we manage the project. We are not a contractor. Installation, electrical work and permitting are performed by an independent, state-licensed Florida contractor we partner with, under that contractor's own license — and that name and license number are on your contract.

We think that structure is better for you. Our job is to get the design and the numbers right and to be accountable for the customer experience; the licensed contractor's job is to build it to code. Neither of us has an incentive to fudge the other's work.

Who leads it

John M. Henry founded Islander Solar and leads every engagement. John holds a BS in Environmental Geography from Fort Lewis College and has worked directly with coastal homeowners, businesses and institutions across South Florida on solar and storage. He personally reviews the design standards and the numbers that go to clients.
